Frequently asked questions
How is CrossFit different from other types of functional and HIIT training?
CrossFit stands out because of expert coaching, progressive programming, and a focus on improving fitness and overall health through working on general physical preparedness—meaning well-rounded fitness for anything life throws your way. It combines constantly varied (but not random), but structured, workouts with more complex movements, personalised scaling for any level of fitness or skill, and a strong, supportive community.
What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a high-intensity, functional fitness program designed to build strength, endurance, and overall fitness. It combines weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio in constantly varied workouts that prepare you for anything life demands.

Loved by our members
This is great gym, super supportive and inclusive – the coaches are fantastic. The most challenging workouts I’ve ever done but everything can be scaled to your fitness level, mobility level and to accommodate any injury. I love the class format , the timetable has heaps of options so it’s easy to work into your schedule. There are so many things I thought I couldn’t do when I first joined – I’m amazed at how much fitter and stronger I’ve become since joining Charge, and it’s been unexpectedly fun. Plus the coffee next door is excellent!
CAITLIN ARMSTRONG
Charge CrossFit is a fantastic gym! I’ve been going there for over six years, and expect to be there for many more! The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, with serious credentials and lots of experience coaching. They really know every member and help that member work towards their goals and with any limitations they may have. They help you nail your technique and improve your fitness. The in-house programming is excellent. The coaches really design programs to be wholistic, improve your fitness and skills, and importantly, they’re really fun! Gym facilities and equipment are great. The gym is always clean and there’s always loads of high-quality equipment. More equipment is added regularly, and equipment maintained and cleaned. The community is very supportive and friendly. You’ll always feel welcome and have others encourage you. Charge also regularly runs community events, which are loads of fun. Some people feel scared or reluctant to try CrossFit (I was when I first started), but CrossFit is scaleable for any level of ability, or if you’re dealing with any injuries. I modify workouts most days! The coaches will help with this, and help you make any modifications to ensure the workouts meet your needs. I encourage you to give CrossFit a go – it just might change your life, like it did mine!
